These gel packs are engineered with safety as a priority. Not all freezers are the same. Some are much colder than others. If the gel packs are too cold to be safe, the gel packs become very rigid, and cannot be put in the wrap. This is a neat safety feature. ColdCure: A Portable Alternative to Cold Therapy Machines

Many people search for motorized cold therapy units (such as the DonJoy Iceman, Ossur Cold Rush, or Breg Polar Care). It is important to know how these machines differ from a medical wrap. Most motorized units use a pump to move ice water through hoses. These units can be hard to use. You must stay near a power outlet while using them. They can also leak or stop working.
