Using ColdCure and BFST together
« on: Today at 09:53:39 AM »
Ok, so first off, it's important to understand the roles of each product.

1) BFST, increases blood flow by using therapeutic energy. It provides an increase in blood flow, deep under the surface of the skin. You will have 3-4 hours of increased blood flow after each BFST treatment

2) ColdCure, reduces inflammation, and slows down the blood flow.

3) Combination Therapy - This is the practice of using multiple products together, to speed up your recovery times.

On our website, we recommend using 3-4 BFST treatments per day. This doesn't mean that you open your box, and immediately start with your BFST. Newer injuries, or re-injuries will require substantial cold treatments in order to take care of the inflammation. Why? Inflammation creates a barrier, preventing the blood flow from moving freely through the injury site. Again, why is this important? The BFST promotes an increase of blood flow!

We get lots of calls and emails, asking when to start using the BFST. We always tell them, it depends on how you're feeling. When you try on your BFST for the first time, you should feel a mild warmth using level 1 on the controller. If it feels hot, or uncomfortable - this is your body telling you that there's still too much inflammation. Stop the BFST treatment - switch back the ColdCure - and try again after you finish the next ColdCure treatment.

At the beginning of any injury, your focus will always be on managing the inflammation and pain associated with your new injury. You will perhaps complete 1-2 BFST treatments (first thing in the morning, and right before bed are the most important treatments) depending on how your body is responding to the ColdCure and inflammation.

It is not unreasonable to have your efforts be mainly on using ColdCure, with very minimal BFST. As your injury stabilizes, you will notice the need for ColdCure will be less, and naturally, you'll have more room/time to fit in another BFST treatment through the day.

Think of your injury as training for a marathon. You don't just start at 100%, you need to condition your body, and build up to it. This is the same for any injury.

Yes, it is possible to do a BFST treatment with some inflammation - but you should never 'tolerate' a BFST treatment. Regardless of ColdCure or BFST treatments, they should be comfortable at all times.

Cold should be used after activity.

Cold should be used before a BFST treatment, not after.

Before each BFST treatment, evaluate how your injury is feeling. If you feel like you have some new inflammation since the last treatment, start with ColdCure. If you're not feeling new inflammation, you can start your BFST treatment right away.

First thing in the morning, you can complete a BFST treatment without ColdCure. Most often, there's no re-injury while you rest, so there's no new inflammation to combat.

Mid day (around lunch) - see how you're feeling. Depending on your activity levels, you'll need to complete some ColdCure treatments. The timing depends on how much new inflammation has been generated. For some customers, they will cycle through cold treatments through the rest of the day, unable to fit mid-day BFST treatments in. This is OK. Some customers will complete 20 minutes with the ColdCure and will be able to start a BFST treatment after that. Again, it depends on how your injury has stabilized, and how much inflammation your body is creating.

Evening (around dinner) - same thing as the mid-day treatment. See how you're feeling. ColdCure for inflammation, and BFST for blood flow.

Right before bed is one of the most important times to do BFST. You want to make sure that you have everything that you need while you're resting, to do as much healing as possible.
