Hi Galagirl,

I would recommend the ColdCure knee wrap to reduce the inflammation and swelling from the operation. Inflammation is painful, can cause further damage and also constricts blood flow delaying the healing process. Scar tissue has been known to result from the surgery too. Compression, which the ColdCure provides, is great at preventing scar tissue from building up.

The BFST may benefit as it works to repair damaged soft tissue, which besides the lateral tendon itself there can be due to the surgery.

Best of luck with your recovery! Please feel free to contact us at any point if you have any questions.

Questions & Answers About Our Products / Re: Research

Hi everyone!

Another article here with relevance to the BFST. This paper compares deep heating via diathermy (which the BFST is a form of) versus superficial heating therapy (heat pads) for pain relief and improved function in knees suffering from osteoarthritis. Follow the first link for an abstract on the study and it’s results or follow the second link for the full paper.

First a quick recap from King Brand on the BFST vs Heat Pads:

The BFST wraps penetrate deep beneath the skin to reach all soft tissues; from the surface of the skin to the core of your body, they actively stimulate blood flow and lymphatic circulation. As the BFST reaches deep within your tissues it stimulates those tissues that are actually in need of blood flow!

Heating pads on the other hand penetrate the skin only and as a result leave the underlying tissues, the actual tissues suffering, unaffected. Don’t just take our word for it though, check out the article below!

Questions and comments welcomed!

Treatment Questions / Re: Metatarsalgia Caused By Morton's Neuroma
« on: June 30, 2014, 01:06:49 AM »
Hi Lefty,

Metatarsalgia is mostly caused and commonly aggravated by cramping of the Metatarsal Bones which then pinch nerves between the bones causing inflammation of the nerves. You are correct that cold therapy will help to reduce the inflammation and thus the pain as well. Avoiding any shoes or motions with your feet that cause this cramping will also help to keep the inflammation down.

If the nerve has become damaged then the BFST will heel the nerve through greater circulation. However as your case of Metatarsalgia is caused by Morton’s Neuroma; excessive growth and thickening of the nerve, I would recommend that you consult a doctor as the BFST while stimulating healing can stimulate further growth.

Our foot products are designed for heel and plantar ailments and consequently may not cover the Metatarsal region (the pad of the foot).  The gels in the ColdCure Foot product, as well as the energy web in the BFST Foot product are 8.75” long starting from the heal, you may lose a ¼” as the components slightly curl up the back of the heel. For this reason I would suggest measuring your feet from the heel to the pad. If this measurement is greater than 8.5” than I would suggest the Wrist wraps in which the components are also 8.5” in length however they sit within a rectangular shaped wrap which can be wrapped horizontally across your foot.

If you have any questions with the treatment or the correct wrap for your ailment please do not hesitate to contacting us.

Questions & Answers About Our Products / Re: Research
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:18:28 PM »
Hi Tim,

Sorry for the late response. That's a great question. The BFST is a unique product possessing much proprietary information. We have worked hard at improving upon existing technologies and have created a product that is by and far more effective at healing soft tissue.

What I can say is that the BFST is a form of Diathermy that uses electromagnetic energy to stimulate blood flow within deep soft tissue. I have copied in below a link to a research paper written about electromagnetic energy therapy. While this paper does not explain the BFST in full, differs on some aspects altogether and lacks specifics with regards to power density, the research still does touch upon many of the same attributes. The paper gives a brief overview of electromagnetic energy therapy as well as case studies. Our testimonials page is a great resource to see how people have benefited from our products specifically, I highly recommend taking a look at that as well.

As a Customer Service Advisor my main focus is on helping our customers get the best out of our products. However we can definitely appreciate that our customers are in pain, possibly unable to work or compete athletically and are looking for a little more information before giving the products a trial (with our 30 day return policy). For this reason we will be updating this section with research topics and papers periodically and more than welcome any questions.

Treatment Questions / Re: How to treat for shin splints on both legs
« on: June 15, 2014, 10:50:23 AM »
Hi sclyon,

Shin Splints are caused by excessive stress on the connective muscle tissue surrounding the tibia and are even more likely to occur if your daughter has a tight calf muscle. The BFST will both loosen up tight muscles through the added blood flow as well as heal any damaged tissue which resulted from the stress. The BFST continues to encourage greater blood flow for up to 4 hours after the recommended 20 minute treatment. I would suggest that until she can run and jump pain free that she should be using the BFST several times a day; For the best results we recommend 3-5 treatments a day, ideally 1 every 4 hours ensuring a steady, constant increase in blood flow. As a treatment will also loosen up the muscles, and other soft tissues, the BFST acts as a great preventative if used before she plays basketball, goes for a run or long walk or anything else that would be strenuous to her legs.

I would also recommend looking at the ColdCure product. The ColdCure relieves the symptoms of an injury; it will reduce the inflammation, allowing for greater circulation and also relieving pain attributed to that inflammation. The ColdCure is designed to be used for, commonly, a couple of days before using the BFST to make sure that all of the circulation-constricting inflammation has subsided and that the new increased blood flow from the BFST can circulate unimpeded. The ColdCure quickly achieves this with both cold therapy and compression therapy. Should she re-aggravate the injury she will want to take a brief break from the BFST and go back to using the ColdCure until once again the symptoms have been relieved.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate in asking. We would love to hear how the products benefit her and how her basketball season goes!

Customer Feedback / Re: Cold cure knee wrap
« on: June 12, 2014, 06:24:50 PM »
Hi Diago,

Thank you for the great feedback! We are so glad to hear that you are doing better and that you are enjoying the ColdCure Knee wrap. If you haven't yet checked out our BFST wrap I highly recommend it. The BFST encourages healing by stimulating blood to the underlying injury which caused the swelling in the first place. Thanks again for the feedback, we look forward to any updates! If you have any questions we are always here to help.

Treatment Questions / Re: Partial Quad Tendon Tear
« on: June 10, 2014, 07:14:14 PM »
Hi,

We do have products for your condition. Both the ColdCure Knee and Leg Wraps will relieve the pain and stiffness you are experiencing. The stiffness is a result of the inflammation within your knee. By relieving the inflammation you will allow greater mobility in your knee and you will also allow your blood to circulate unimpeded to get to the injured tissues within your leg. I would recommend both ColdCure products as they are specifically designed for their respective body part to offer, as well as cold therapy, great compression which also acts quickly to relieve inflammation.

The BFST wrap is the second step to your recovery. The BFST encourages a greater flow of blood which carries oxygen and nutrients to repair damaged soft tissue more quickly and also loosens up the joints for greater flexibility. Your Doctor is right, you do want to rest your injuries to avoid re-aggravation, however while you rest you are not stimulating your circulation. This is the optimal time to be using the BFST to ensure you are receiving adequate supplies of blood, oxygen and nutrients while preventing set-backs in the form of re-injury.

As for a predicted recovery time it really can vary. There are many factors that will help determine how long it does take to recover; for example how often you use the BFST, if you are able to avoid re-aggravation, how severe the injury is to begin with, diet, age and many others. What we can say is that we are constantly having customers call us to say how they have shocked their doctors and physical therapists with how quickly they have recovered compared to their estimates. There is a great testimonials page on our website that I recommend taking a look at.

I hope I've answered all your questions, if you have any others please do ask!

Treatment Questions / Re: Response to BFST treatments
« on: June 08, 2014, 10:17:39 PM »
Hi Adie,

As you can see the sensations can vary by person and by the level in which the BFST is being used. I can usually start on level 2 and do eventually work my way up to level 3. I feel internal warmth as well as greater flexibility afterwards, on occasion I have experienced tingling. You’ll know if you are on too high of a level if it feels hot, the longer you use the product the better your circulation will become and the higher levels can actually begin to feel cooler.

Hi Bernice,

Depending on the cause of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome both the ColdCure and BFST offer great relief and will help speed up your recovery. Cubital Tunnel Syndrome is the result of pressure on the Ulnar nerve which passes through the elbow. Commonly this pressure comes from inflammation, swelling and fluid as a result of a soft tissue injury within the elbow. These symptoms not only put pressure on the Ulnar nerve causing numbness, weakness and pain but also constrict blood flow which delays healing. The ColdCure elbow wrap relieves the above symptoms reducing the pressure placed on the Ulnar nerve. Once the circulation constricting symptoms are gone the BFST is great for improving the blood flow to your elbow bringing oxygen and nutrients to heal the underlying soft tissue injury.

I hope this has helped, if you have any further questions please do ask!

Treatment Questions / Re: Meniscus injury Left Knee

Hi Jeremy,

A4. Our ColdCure gels can be stored in the fridge or freezer so that they are always cold and ready to go. When you first receive them leave them in the fridge or freezer for 2-3 hours, if you spread them out as opposed to stacking them they will cool faster.

If you are using the gels out of the fridge than you can wear the wrap for as long as needed while rotating in fresh, cold gels. We recommend using the gels from the fridge as it is more gentle on your skin and as you are able to wear the wrap without having to take breaks, allowing more treatments within a given time.

If you are using the gels from out of the freezer than to protect your skin you should have a layer of fabric in-between the gel and your skin. After applying the ColdCure for 20 minutes we recommend taking a 20 minute break to protect the skin and nerves from the extreme cold.

A5. Both the ColdCure and BFST wraps are suitable and great for healthy knees and joints. The BFST can be used before exercise to prevent injury. Use the BFST before going for a run as after a 20 minute treatment with the BFST, blood flow continues to be stimulated for upwards of 4 hours. This blood flow reaches all the tendons and ligaments in the targeted and surrounding areas to create a more elastic and lubricated joint which is less likely to be aggravated during any strenuous exercise.

Both healthy and injured joints can become inflamed after exercise. Using the ColdCure after going for a run will bring down the inflammation to relieve pain and to allow unimpeded blood flow to the muscles to rebuild and strengthen from the strain of the activity.

A6. Currently our products are not sold in Singapore however we do ship internationally. International shipping is charged at cost, if you would like a quote simply call or email our customer service staff and provide your shipping address. Both the email and phone number for customer service can be found below.

Treatment Questions / Re: Meniscus injury Left Knee

To accurately know if you have a partial or full tear in your meniscus requires an MRI. A full tear is a more severe injury and may cause greater inflammation and greater, more persistent aches. However this is not always the case. Therefore basing your injury off of the level of inflammation you are experiencing is not an accurate or suggested method of diagnosis.

Treatment Questions / Re: Meniscus injury Left Knee

Hi Jeremy,

A1: The length of treatments with the ColdCure wrap varies, we recommend using the gels from out of the fridge in which case you can keep the wrap on and rotate through the gels for as long as you like. If the gels are coming from out of the freezer than to protect your skin you want to wear the wrap for 20 minutes at a time with at least a 20 minute break between sessions. You also want to have a layer of fabric in-between the gel and your skin.
While the ColdCure relieves blood flow constricting inflammation to improve circulation in the long run it does slow blood flow while wearing the wrap and shortly after which is why you do want to give time before going from the ColdCure to the BFST. This effect lasts roughly 30 minutes making this the ideal amount of time you would want to wait before moving on to the BFST.

A2: The amount of treatments the ColdCure takes to relieve all of the inflammation can vary significantly depending on the severity of the injury and the amount of rest you can give your knee. Any motion that hurts your knee puts it at risk for re-aggravation and a return of the inflammation. We do recommend using the ColdCure for several days before moving on to the BFST.

A3: The knee wraps can be worn right side up (King Brand logo on the top strap) or upside down (King Brand logo on the bottom strap). Either way that you wear the wrap it will cover the sides of the knee, above the knee cap and below the knee cap. Wearing the wrap right side up covers slightly more on the bottom of the knee cap than the top, this is the method I would suggest for a Meniscus injury.
