One Super Important Fact:
You don't need to resort to risky cortisone shots or invasive surgery in order to get rid of your Supraspinatus Tendonitis. You can heal with conservative treatments.
How To Treat Your Supraspinatus Tendonitis
Supraspinatus Tendonitis can be difficult to treat because re-injury is so common. Any activity that involves movement or overuse of the shoulder joint can cause further injury and a lengthened recovery time. This could be something as simple as walking your dog, lifting a box off a shelf or repeatedly doing a specific action involving your arm and shoulder. Many days of healing can be wiped out by a momentary motion in the wrong direction. You know that sudden sharp pain all too well, and every time you feel it you are setting back the clock on healing.
If you're aware that you're doing a particular repetitive action, this could in part be causing your Supraspinatus Tendonitis, so you should consider moderating this activity.
Thankfully, King Brand® has developed the products you need to provide light immobilization, stop the pain and speed up the healing process. These products are the Accessory Sling, ColdCure® Top Shoulder Wrap, BFST® Top Shoulder Wrap and KB Support Tape.
The Ultimate Solution:
If you really
want to get better, here's exactly
what you need to do.
- Wear a ColdCure® Wrap as much as possible to relieve your pain and swelling and protect your Supraspinatus from further damage.
- Do a BFST® treatment first thing every morning. Do 2 or 3 more BFST® treatments throughout the day. This will help you heal quickly.
- Avoid re-straining and overusing the shoulder as much as possible. The Accessory Sling can help with this by immobilizing your shoulder and arm. You should also use KB Tape to provide your shoulder with extra support and protection.
Do this and your Supraspinatus Tendonitis can truly heal - finally.
Blood Flow Is Essential For Healing
You don't have to wait. You can heal much more quickly with the right treatment. For Supraspinatus Tendonitis, blood flow is the most critical element in rapid recovery. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy® (BFST®) gives your Supraspinatus the blood flow it needs to heal quickly and completely.
BFST® brings oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to your Supraspinatus -- a requirement for the body to heal itself. Unfortunately, an injured Supraspinatus at rest often has restricted blood flow, which in turn limits the body's ability to heal. Physical activity will promote blood flow but all too often it also results in small but frequent re-injury, and further aggravation of your Tendonitis, which extends your healing time and greatly increases the amount of scar tissue that develops. With a King Brand® BFST® Top Shoulder Wrap, blood flow can be stimulated in the affected area while you are at rest. With improved blood flow, and without physical activity and the risk of
re-injury, you can recover from Supraspinatus Tendonitis at a surprisingly rapid rate.
BFST® Devices are Electrical Medical Appliances that
actively stimulate blood flow in injured tissue.
BFST® devices help heal soft tissue.
BFST® stimulates blood flow through the Supraspinatus while you are at rest. This is very important because, while at rest, an unaided and inflamed Supraspinatus can otherwise have seriously impeded blood flow. It is the oxygen and nutrient-rich blood that enables the healing process, so adequate blood flow is required for the Supraspinatus to heal properly and quickly.
BFST® treatments are very pleasant and relaxing. People often notice a slight tingling sensation and warmth deep in their shoulder as a result of the increase in blood flow. We recommend 3-4 BFST® treatments per day for optimal results. Since the effects of each 20 minute treatment last for up to 4 hours afterwards, it's best to spread your treatments out over the course of the day. An ideal treatment regimen would be one treatment first thing in the morning, another treatment in the afternoon, a treatment in the evening, and the last treatment of the day right before bed.
Almost as important as the promotion of blood flow is the reminder of your injury. The reminder is what helps you move with care so you don't overdo it and end up making your Supraspinatus Tendonitis worse. Avoiding re-injury is fundamental to rapid recovery. This is why we recommend you keep wearing your BFST® Wrap between treatments. When your treatment ends, simply unplug the controller and gently tighten the wrap to your shoulder. This will provide your shoulder with light support and protection between treatments.
Dealing With Pain
Supraspinatus Tendonitis can cause you to feel a tearing pain in your shoulder, making you reach for painkillers for some relief. NSAIDs and analgesics such as ASA, acetaminophen or ibuprofen are often used to treat the pain but these drugs do nothing to treat the Tendonitis itself. In fact, NSAIDs and analgesics are known blood thinners and make the bleeding worse for fresh tissue injuries. Typical pain medications actually interfere with the healing process. Cortisone injections are used in extreme cases but these too are intended to address the pain. They do not promote healing of the injury or Tendonitis and they put you at a very high risk of further injury.
Painkillers are BAD, Not Good
Painkillers only mask the pain, causing you to feel a false sense of ability that can lead to re-injury and a lengthened recovery time. It's understandable that people need relief from the pain, so if you have to take painkillers, try to restrict them to times when you're resting. You can use painkillers to help you sleep. Using painkillers when you are active is a recipe for permanent damage.
Avoid the Dangers of Painkillers
ColdCure® Wraps are the safest and most effective pain reliever. They do a superior job of relieving the pain associated with Supraspinatus Tendonitis, without the negative aspects of painkillers. ColdCure® Wraps also work faster than painkillers. You will feel the cool, soothing relief of ColdCure® as soon as you apply the wrap to your shoulder. With painkillers, you have to wait for 20 minutes before the effects kick in.
ColdCure® Devices Reduce Pain and Swelling.
ColdCure® Devices are NOT typical cold or ice packs.
For dealing with the swelling and pain that comes with Supraspinatus Tendonitis, nothing works better than cold and compression.
ColdCure® technology was developed specifically to address the need for a cold compression device that does not freeze the skin and underlying tissue. Our gel packs pose no threat of cold burns. This makes them much safer to use than other products that use ice, which can cause the skin to freeze, leading to permanent damage. ColdCure® gel packs are completely safe to use for extended treatment durations, meaning faster relief of pain and swelling. Our ColdCure® technology is a huge improvement on regular ice packs.
The ColdCure® Top Shoulder Wrap comes with 3 swappable gel packs that contain our unique XC RigiGel® formula. Our gel is firm yet flexible, unlike other gel formulas that are watery and mushy. This means the gel holds its form and doesn't flow away from your Supraspinatus. It won't move, even under heavy pressure for long periods of time. It always stays in place to relieve your pain and swelling. The gel packs are inserted inside the wrap one at a time, so you can have the other two charging in the freezer to keep your cold therapy going. Do your ColdCure® treatments in 20 minute intervals throughout the day, or as long as you need the relief.
Accessory Sling to Immobilize Your Shoulder
If you want your Supraspinatus to heal as quickly as possible, you need to try to immobilize it as much as you can. Immobilizing the shoulder is extremely difficult though, as even the smallest movements can lead to further damage. That's why we designed the Accessory Sling. The Accessory Sling can be attached to your BFST® or ColdCure® Shoulder Wrap, to help immobilize your shoulder and arm. Limiting movement of the injured area helps to prevent re-injury or repetitive strain and greatly contributes to a faster healing time.
The Accessory Sling also does a great job of taking the weight of your arm off your injured shoulder. Taking the tension off your shoulder is a huge relief, and also helps to further prevent re-injury.
The Accessory Sling is completely customizable to suit your specific needs and can stick anywhere on your Shoulder Wrap. You can wear it on either your right or left arm. This is a unique product as it allows you to have your arm in a sling while you treat your shoulder with blood flow or cold therapy at the same time.
Please note that the Accessory Sling cannot be used on its own or with any products other than the BFST® and ColdCure® Shoulder Wraps.
Protect Your Shoulder Between Treatments
When you're not doing treatments with your BFST® or ColdCure® Wrap, your injured tissue is vulnerable to further damage. You don't want to re-injure your fragile tissue and make your Supraspinatus Tendonitis worse. Apply KB Support Tape between your BFST® and ColdCure® treatments to provide your Supraspinatus with extra support and protection.
Our skin is soft and elastic and can stretch much more than the tissue underneath. When you apply KB Support Tape to your skin, it becomes a much more rigid surface than before, serving to limit how much your skin can stretch. The Tape makes your skin a source of outside support to hold your tissue in place, helping you avoid re-injury. That's why we call it armor for your injury.
KB Support Tape - Use All Day During Work & Play
KB Support Tape provides lightweight, comfortable compression to relieve your swelling throughout the day. It also helps to prevent re-injury by giving your healing tissue targeted support and protection without restricting your range of motion.
KB Support Tape comes in 2 different sizes: 2 inch wide and 3 inch wide. The 2 inch wide variety is ideal for smaller areas (Foot, Wrist), while the 3 inch wide style is better for larger areas (Back, Shoulder). This also works for your size. Bigger people will prefer the 3 inch wide Tape, while smaller people will prefer the 2 inch wide Tape.
The 2 inch wide Tape comes in 4 different colors: Pink, Blue, Black & Beige. There is no functional difference between the colors, the just allow you to express your individual style.
While the 2 inch wide Tape is available in both Pre-Cut Strips and a Continuous Roll, the 3 inch wide Tape comes in a Continuous Roll only.
The Pre-Cut Strips of KB Support Tape are fast, easy and convenient. Since they're already cut into ready-to-use strips, you can just apply and go! Every roll of Pre-Cut KB Support Tape contains 20 individual strips. Each Pre-Cut Strip is 2 inches wide and 10 inches long.
The Continuous Rolls of KB Support Tape are perfect for you if you're looking for a more customizable Tape. You can cut the Tape into a variety of different shapes and sizes to achieve a completely unique application for your Supraspinatus. Each box contains 1 Continuous Roll of KB Support Tape that is either 2 inches wide or 3 inches wide and 16 feet long.
While we found the above application for Supraspinatus Tendonitis effective, it's only an example. We encourage you to experiment with different applications to find the one that works best for you. When applying the Tape, trust the pain and use it as a guide. If you are feeling pain in a specific area of your shoulder, apply the Tape there.
The Medical Tape Advantage
What sets KB Support Tape apart from other tapes? It's not athletic tape, it's medical tape. While athletic tapes don't have any material safety standards, medical tapes do. Our Tape is manufactured to ISO 10993 standards, which ensures that KB Support Tape is made from extremely safe, biocompatible materials. These materials are actually safer than the ones used to make most baby products, including toys, clothes and even diapers. Don't let the big brand tapes fool you. Most of them are made from toxic materials. Some big brand tape glues even contain carcinogenic ingredients. At King Brand®, your health and safety is of utmost importance, which is why KB Support Tape is manufactured to such high standards.

Combination Therapy BFST® + ColdCure® Treatments
for Rapid Healing
for Pain & Swelling
to Prevent Re-Injury
Combination Therapy means using ColdCure® and BFST® in combination by alternating treatments, as well as using KB Support Tape between your treatments. Combination Therapy is much more effective than using just one treatment or the other. This is because you're getting the pain and swelling relief of ColdCure®, the healing benefits of BFST®, and the protection and re-injury prevention of KB Support Tape, resulting in the absolute best treatment for your Supraspinatus Tendonitis.
Use the ColdCure® Wrap several times a day to help reduce not only the visible swelling you may see on the surface, but also the inflammation you may have and cannot see, deep down in the soft tissue.
Any time you're unable to do a ColdCure® treatment, apply KB Support Tape to your Supraspinatus. This will provide your shoulder with compression and will protect it from re-injury.
Avoid using the BFST® Wrap until your inflammation and swelling has subsided. Start your BFST® treatments on Level 1. For maximum benefit, please take into consideration that each 20 minute treatment optimizes your blood circulation for an average of 4 hours. We recommend 3-4 treatments daily, spread throughout the day. During the day, do a BFST® treatment every 4 hours or before any type of physical activity. This can include anything that puts a strain on your Supraspinatus (reaching, lifting, etc). This can also be used for preventative measures after a full recovery to optimize your blood flow.
Apply KB Support Tape to your Supraspinatus between your BFST® treatments. Do your first BFST® treatment of the day before you apply the Tape and do the last treatment of the day after the Tape has been removed.
Do a ColdCure® treatment any time you experience a pain flare-up or after any physical activity to prevent further injury and reduce swelling and inflammation. Follow with another BFST® treatment 30-45 minutes after your ColdCure® treatment. This time will allow your blood flow and body temperature to regulate again. Refrain from using ColdCure® within the 4 hours following your 20 minute BFST® treatment. This will counteract the treatment. If necessary, use the ColdCure® Wrap for pain control, then follow up with another BFST® treatment.

Medical Function - BFST® Wrap - Accelerated Healing
BFST® Wraps are FDA Registered Class II medical devices. They have been designed, tested and manufactured to very high standards of safety, quality and performance. They comply with hundreds of pages of regulations that are in place to keep you safe and ensure effective treatments. Manufacturers of consumer grade products can't say the same.
The BFST® (Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy®) Wrap is designed to promote blood flow in injured tissue below the dermal layer. Utilizing our proprietary Energy Web®, specially controlled and incredibly safe levels of EMR energy envelop your Supraspinatus and stimulate blood flow in the soft tissue deep below your skin. The resulting stimulation brings oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the injured area, accelerating the healing process.
BFST® Wraps come with a 3 level power controller. Everyone should start their treatments on Level 1 and work their way through the levels gradually as they heal. Proceeding immediately to Level 2 or 3 will not speed up your healing time. You need to condition the body first.
During your first treatments on Level 1, your Supraspinatus and the area around it will feel quite warm. This is because, at first, your circulation is poor. The more treatments you do, the less warming sensation you will feel. This is good. As the warmth lessens from treatment to treatment, this is an indication that the circulation in your Supraspinatus is improving. Better circulation means blood flow all the time, not just during treatments. This is the goal. When you feel very little warmth during a treatment, it is time to move up to the next level. Don't rush it though, more heat does not mean better treatment. In fact, less heat means better treatment, so take your time moving up in levels.
BFST® Wraps have far more benefits than heating pads. For one, BFST® Wraps work to actively heal your damaged tissue. Heating pads can't do this. BFST® Wraps create an ideal environment for healing by promoting additional blood flow through the injured area. The difference between a BFST® Wrap and a heating pad is huge.
The Energy Web® of the BFST® Top Shoulder device is enclosed inside a soft, comfortable neoprene wrap. The wrap shapes the Energy Web® to mold around the top of your shoulder to provide your Supraspinatus with an even distribution of energy. The wrap comes with attachable Velcro® straps you can attach to achieve a customized fit. After your BFST® treatments you can continue wearing the wrap to provide snug support and protection for your shoulder.
Complete the Healing Process
When you have a shoulder injury as a result of Supraspinatus Tendonitis, the pain may end long before you've actually finished healing. In fact, the pain is usually gone once you're about 20%-30% healed. The healing process is very complex and takes much longer than most people realize. (You can click here for the the full story). The key thing to remember is that long after the pain stops, your Supraspinatus is still healing. This means you need to keep doing BFST® treatments in order to complete the healing process. Doing regular BFST® treatments for months after the pain is gone is extremely beneficial. Do a BFST® treatment before any type of physical activity. This will act as a warm-up for your circulatory system. You should also continue taping your Supraspinatus to help prevent re-injury and re-straining the shoulder.
Medical Function - ColdCure® Wrap - Extreme Pain Relief
ColdCure® Wraps are Class I FDA Registered medical devices. Cold compression wraps are standard medical products for the treatment of pain and inflammation. Cold and compression applied to your injured Supraspinatus immediately reduces the risk of further damage from excessive swelling. Doctors and Therapists agree that controlling swelling is a crucial part of reducing long-term permanent damage resulting from soft tissue injuries. ColdCure® Wraps exceed all government and health agency regulatory requirements for cold therapy, specifically for use in treating soft tissue injuries.
ColdCure® RigiGel® packs are much safer and more effective than ice and products that use gooey blue gel. Why? Because RigiGel® packs are like ice, but they stay at 32°F / 0°C. While they may start at about
-4°F / -20°C straight from the freezer, after a few minutes they will go to 32°F / 0°C and stay at 32°F / 0°C for a long time. This is the ideal temperature for cold therapy, because it's cold enough to relieve your pain and swelling, but safe enough to not cause cold burns. Ice and blue gel packs will also start out at -4°F / -20°C and rapidly go to 32°F / 0°C, but then they will quickly warm up instead of staying in the safe, effective zone of 32°F / 0°C. The XC Gel® danger zone is very small, but the benefits are huge.
While XC Gel® packs are designed to be stored in the freezer, you can store them in the fridge if you find them too cold from the freezer. Not all freezers are the same. If you find that the gel pack is too stiff from the freezer, leave it out for several minutes before inserting it inside the wrap. When the pack is soft enough to bend, it is ready to use for treatment.
Most people think that RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) is the formula to follow when treating a soft tissue injury. The truth is that ice can actually freeze your skin and numb your nerves, causing 'cold burns' and even permanent damage to your underlying tissue. The proper solution is RCCE® (Rest, Cold, Compression, Elevation). You don't want to apply ice, you want to apply cold that is just above freezing. Yes, you want cold -- and lots of it -- but not so cold that it is below the freezing point of water.
The ColdCure® Top Shoulder Wrap comes with 3
XC RigiGel® packs that contain 3x more gel per lb than other products. This means maximum coverage of your Supraspinatus. When stored in the freezer, our gel packs also have 10x more cooling power than other products. This means less time spent swapping the gel packs. It also means faster relief of your pain and swelling. More gel plus more cooling power means an overall better, more effective treatment.
ColdCure® Top Shoulder gel packs are custom designed to mold to your Supraspinatus and surrounding area to ensure you get an even distribution of cooling power over the entire injured area. All of our gel packs are specifically designed for the body part they're intended to treat. We don't just use one generic gel pack shape for all of our products. Every part of the body is uniquely shaped, which is why all of our gel packs are uniquely shaped too. These products have 100% been designed to treat Supraspinatus Tendonitis.
XC RigiGel® Means No Hot Spots!
Regular gel packs are notorious for having hot and cold spots. Our XC RigiGel® formula helps to distribute the cold energy evenly throughout the gel pack. When cold pressure is applied to a Supraspinatus with tendonitis, the gel starts to warm up in that specific spot faster than the rest of the pack. The cold energy in our gel packs is transferred from the cold spots to the warm spots much more effectively. This is a valuable improvement as your sore, painful Supraspinatus will receive the cooling power of the entire pack, every time. The temperature-balancing power of this gel formula is unmatched.
XC Gel® packs have 2 different colored sides: a white side and a gold side. Both sides will give you all the same benefits that our amazing XC RigiGel® formula has to offer. The gel packs can be inserted inside the wrap with the white side facing towards your shoulder or away from your shoulder as they're not side specific.
