One Super Important Fact:
The products below ARE FDA Registered medical devices. These products and treatments ARE intended to prevent, treat and cure IT Band Syndrome.
Rapid Recovery For ITBS
Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) is an overuse injury most often affecting runners and other athletes. If your ITBS is severe enough, it can force you to take time off from physical activity due to pain and immobility. We know you don't want ITBS to rule your life. We know you want to be able to get back to your usual routine. If you really want to get rid of the pain and heal your ITBS, don't use foam rollers - this will only make your ITBS worse. You need something that actually works. You need our BFST® and ColdCure® Wraps.
The Ultimate Solution:
If you really want to get better, here's exactly what you need to do.
Wear a ColdCure® Wrap as much as possible to relieve your pain and swelling and protect your IT Band from further damage.
Do a BFST® treatment first thing every morning. Do 2 or 3 more BFST® treatments throughout the day. This will help you heal quickly.
Avoid re-straining your IT Band as much as possible. KB Tape will help with this. Resting your IT Band is hard, but it is very important in the early stages of healing.
Do this and your IT Band can truly heal - finally.
Blood Flow Is Essential For Healing
You don't have to wait for endless months in pain. You can heal much more quickly with the right treatment. For ITBS, blood flow is the most critical element in rapid recovery. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy® (BFST®) gives your IT Band the blood flow it needs to heal quickly and completely.
BFST® Wraps bring oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the injured area - a requirement for the IT Band to heal itself. Unfortunately, an injured IT Band at rest often has restricted blood flow, which in turn limits the body's ability to heal. Physical activity will promote blood flow but all too often it also results in small but frequent re-injury, which extends your healing time and greatly increases the amount of scar tissue that develops. With a King Brand® BFST® IT Band Wrap, blood flow can be stimulated in your injured IT Band while you are at rest. With improved blood flow and without physical activity and the risk of re-injury, you can recover from your Iliotibial Band Syndrome at a surprisingly rapid rate.
BFST® Devices are Electrical Medical Appliances that
actively stimulate blood flow in injured tissue.
BFST® devices heal soft tissue.
BFST® stimulates blood flow through your IT Band while you are at rest. This is very important because while at rest, an unaided and inflamed IT Band can otherwise have seriously impeded blood flow. It is the oxygen and nutrient-rich blood that enables the healing process, so adequate blood flow is required for your IT Band to heal properly and quickly.
The BFST® device is easy to use. Put it on, plug it in, turn it on and sit back and relax. People often notice a slight tingling sensation and warmth deep in their IT Band as the BFST® starts the blood flowing. The effects last up to 4 hours, so we recommend that you spread your treatments out throughout the day. That way you'll be receiving optimal blood flow all day long. An ideal treatment regimen would be one treatment first thing in the morning, another treatment in the afternoon, a treatment in the evening, and the last treatment of the day right before bed.
Almost as important as blood flow is the reminder of the injury. Without the reminder, you risk feeling a false sense of ability that could cause you to overdo it and make your ITBS worse. The reminder is what will help you move with care so you don't aggravate your IT Band further. That's why we recommend wearing the BFST® Wrap between treatments. After a treatment, simply unplug the controller from the wrap and gently tighten the straps. This will provide your IT Band with light support and protection, as well as act as a reminder of your injury.
Which Wrap Should I Use?
If your IT Band injury is located above the outside part of your knee, you need to use our Knee Wraps. The Knee Wraps cover the sides of your knee, as well as above and below the knee cap, depending on how you wear the wrap. Perfect for targeting IT Band injuries in the knee area.
If your IT Band injury is located in your thigh (above your knee but below your hips) you need to use our Leg Wraps. The versatile Leg Wraps can be worn on any area of your Leg and are ideal for treating IT Band injuries. Designed for IT Band injuries located along the thigh.
If your IT Band injury is located on the top of your thigh near your hip, you need to use our Back/Hip Wraps. The Back/Hip Wraps are designed to treat IT Band injuries located in the hip area. IT Band injuries near the hip can be hard to target, but the Back/Hip Wrap makes it easy.
Dealing With Pain
Iliotibial Band Syndrome can be extremely painful and debilitating, causing you to take painkillers for a quick fix. Analgesics and NSAIDs such as ASA, acetaminophen or ibuprofen are often used to treat the pain but these drugs do nothing to treat the injury itself. In fact, analgesics and NSAIDs are known blood thinners and make the bleeding worse for fresh tissue injuries. Typical pain medications actually interfere with the healing process. Cortisone injections are used in extreme cases but these too are intended to address the pain. They do not promote healing of the injury and they put you at a very high risk of further injury.
Painkillers are BAD, Not Good
Painkillers mask the pain and cause you to continue to stress and injure your IT Band. This only makes things worse. It is understandable that people need relief from the pain, so if you have to take painkillers, try to restrict them to times when you are off your feet. You can use painkillers to help you sleep. Using them when you are active is a recipe for permanent damage.
ColdCure® Wraps - Safer & More Effective
Avoid the dangers of painkillers and use a ColdCure® Wrap instead. ColdCure® Wraps are superior to painkillers in every way. They do an incredible job of relieving the pain and swelling associated with IT Band Syndrome, without any of the negative aspects of painkillers. ColdCure® Wraps also work faster. Painkillers take 20 minutes to kick in, while the ColdCure® Wrap starts working as soon as you put it on. When you apply the wrap to your IT Band area, you will feel the cool, soothing relief.
ColdCure® Devices Reduce Pain and Swelling.
ColdCure® Devices are NOT typical cold or ice packs.
For dealing with the swelling and pain associated with ITBS, nothing works better than cold and compression.
The ColdCure® Knee, Back and Leg Wraps are made entirely of very stretchy material. They wrap around the injured area and apply a very gentle pressure over your IT Band. The wrap comes with swappable cold packs of a very special design. They are soft and flexible and mold perfectly to the injured area, yet the gel inside them won't move out of place. Each ColdCure® Wrap comes with 3 gel packs. You use them 1 at a time, keeping the other 2 in the freezer so you can keep swapping them out as many times as you like. We recommend that you do your ColdCure® treatments in 20 minute intervals throughout the day.
Our XC Gel® packs are flexible at any temperature, so they conform to your body even when they're straight from the freezer. This means you always get an even, consistent treatment. Unlike gels that are mushy and watery, our gel is firm enough to stay in place, but soft enough to mold comfortably to your injury.

Protect Your IT Band Between Treatments
When you're not doing treatments with your BFST® or ColdCure® Wrap, your injured tissue becomes vulnerable to further damage. You don't want to re-injure your already fragile tissue and make your IT Band Syndrome worse. Apply KB Support Tape directly over the injured area between your BFST® and ColdCure® treatments. This will provide your IT Band with additional support and protection.
Our skin is soft and elastic and can stretch much more than the tissue underneath. When you apply KB Support Tape to your skin, it becomes a much more rigid surface than before, serving to limit how much the skin can stretch. The Tape makes your skin a source of outside support to hold your tissue in place, helping to prevent re-injury. That's why we call it armor for your injury.
KB Support Tape - Use All Day During Work & Play
KB Support Tape provides your injury with lightweight, comfortable compression to relieve your swelling throughout the day. You can wear it during all of your daily activities and it won't get in the way or restrict your movement.
KB Support Tape comes in 2 different styles: Pre-Cut Strips and a Continuous Roll. These 2 styles come in 4 different colors: Pink, Blue, Black & Beige. There's no functional difference between the colors, they just allow you to express your personal style.
The Pre-Cut Strips of KB Support Tape are ideal for people who want to use their tape on-the-go. Since they're already cut into ready-to-use strips, you can apply and go! Each roll of Pre-Cut KB Support Tape contains 20 individual strips. Each Pre-Cut Strip is 2 inches wide and 10 inches long.
The Continuous Rolls of KB Support Tape are perfect for you if you're looking for a more customizable Tape. You can cut the Tape into a variety of different shapes and sizes to achieve a completely unique application for your injury. Each box contains 1 Continuous Roll of KB Support Tape that is 2 inches wide and 16 feet long.
While we found the above application to be effective for IT Band Syndrome, it's only an example. We encourage you to try different applications for IT Band Syndrome to find the one that works best for you. Also, remember to listen to what your body is telling you. Use the pain as a guide. If you feel the pain in a specific area of your IT Band, apply the tape there.
The Medical Tape Advantage
What sets KB Support Tape apart from the rest? It's not athletic tape, it's medical tape. This means our Tape is manufactured to ISO 10993 standards, which ensures that our Tape is made from extremely safe, biocompatible materials. Our Tape is actually made from materials that are safer than most baby products, including diapers, toys and clothing. Don't let the big brand tapes fool you. Most of them are made from toxic materials, because there are no standards for athletic tape. Some big brand athletic tape glues even contain carcinogenic ingredients. At King Brand®, your health and safety is of utmost importance, which is why KB Support Tape is manufactured to such high standards.

Combination Therapy BFST® + ColdCure® + KB Tape
for Rapid Healing
for Pain & Swelling
to Prevent Re-Injury
Combination Therapy means using ColdCure® and BFST® in combination by alternating treatments, as well as using KB Support Tape between your treatments. Combination Therapy is much more effective than using just one product or the other. This is because you're getting the pain and swelling relief of ColdCure®, the healing benefits of BFST®, and the protection and re-injury prevention of KB Support Tape, resulting in the absolute best treatment for your Iliotibial Band Syndrome.
Use the ColdCure® Wrap several times a day to help reduce not only the visible swelling you may see on the surface, but also the inflammation you may have and cannot see, deep down in the soft tissue.
Avoid using the BFST® Wrap until your inflammation and swelling has subsided. Start your BFST® treatments on Level 1. For maximum benefit, please take into consideration that each 20 minute treatment optimizes your blood circulation for an average of 4 hours. We recommend 3-4 treatments daily, spread throughout the day. During the day, do a BFST® treatment every 4 hours or before any type of physical activity. This can include anything that puts a strain on the injured area (walking, standing for extended periods, etc). This can also be used for preventative measures after a full recovery to optimize your blood flow.
Do a ColdCure® treatment any time you experience a pain flare-up or after any physical activity to prevent further injury and reduce swelling and inflammation. Wait 30-45 minutes after your ColdCure® treatment to use BFST® again. This time will allow the blood flow and body temperature to regulate again. Refrain from using ColdCure® within the 4 hours following your 20 minute BFST® treatment. This will counteract the treatment. If necessary, use the ColdCure® Wrap for pain control, then follow up with another BFST® treatment.
Any time you're not doing a BFST® or ColdCure® treatment, wear KB Support Tape on your IT Band. More Tape means more support, so if you're doing something physically demanding, you may want to apply an extra layer of Tape. If you're taping and doing multiple BFST® treatments throughout the day, do your first BFST® treatment before the Tape is applied and your last treatment after it has been removed at the end of the day.

Medical Function - BFST® Wrap - Accelerated Healing
BFST® Wraps are FDA Registered Class II medical devices. BFST® Wraps are designed, tested and manufactured to ensure the best quality and performance possible. They comply with hundreds of pages of regulations and standards that are in place to keep you safe and ensure effective treatments. BFST® Wraps meet extremely high standards when it comes to quality, safety and efficacy. The same can't be said for non-FDA Registered consumer grade products.
The Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy® (BFST®) Wrap is designed to promote blood flow in the injured tissue below the dermal (fat and skin) layer. Utilizing our proprietary Energy Web®, specially controlled and incredibly safe, low levels of EMR energy envelop the damaged IT Band and stimulate blood flow in the soft tissue deep beneath the skin. The resulting blood flow brings oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the injured area, accelerating the healing process.
BFST® Wraps come with a 3 level power controller. Everyone should start their treatments at Level 1 and work their way through the levels gradually as their IT Band heals. Proceeding immediately to Level 2 or 3 will not speed up the healing process. You need to condition the body first.
During your first treatments on Level 1, your IT Band area will feel quite warm. This is because at first, your circulation is poor. The more treatments you do, the less warming sensation you will feel. This is good. As the warmth lessens from treatment to treatment, this is an indication that the circulation in your IT Band is improving. Better circulation means blood flow all the time, not just during treatments. This is the goal. When you feel very little warmth during a treatment, it is time to move up to the next power level. Don't rush it though, more heat doesn't mean better treatment. In fact, less heat means better treatment, so take your time moving up in levels.
BFST® Wraps are better than heating pads in every way. BFST® treatments work to actively heal your tissue damage by improving your blood circulation. Heating pads can't do this. BFST® Wraps penetrate deep down to the soft tissue to create an ideal environment for healing. All heating pads do is bring blood to the surface of your skin, making it hot to the touch. This does nothing to heal the damaged tissue deep below your skin. The difference between a BFST® Wrap and a heating pad is huge.
The Energy Web® of the BFST® device is enclosed inside a soft, comfortable neoprene wrap. The wrap shapes the Energy Web® to mold around the IT Band to ensure that there is an even distribution of energy over the entire injured area. The wrap is opened and closed using attached Velcro® straps that allow you to find the right fit for your body. After treatment, the wrap does not need to be removed. The straps can be further tightened to provide snug support and protection for your IT Band. The device easily disconnects at the wrap from the power supply and controller so you are free to move around your home when not receiving treatment, while still wearing the wrap for support and comfort.
Complete the Healing Process
Keep doing BFST® treatments even after you think you've healed. The healing process takes much longer than most people realize. Even after you "feel better", your IT Band may only be 20-30% healed. If you want your tissue to heal completely, you need to continue using the BFST® Wrap for months after the pain is gone. Do a BFST® treatment prior to any physical activity. This will act as a warm up for your circulatory system. You should also continue using KB Support Tape on your IT Band area to help prevent re-injury.
Medical Function - ColdCure® Wrap - Extreme Pain Relief
The King Brand® ColdCure® Wrap is an FDA Registered Class I medical device. This medical grade cold compression wrap is designed for home use. Cold and compression applied to an injured IT Band immediately reduces the risk of further damage from excessive swelling. Doctors and Therapists agree that controlling swelling is a fundamental part of reducing the long term, permanent damage that can come with soft tissue injuries such as ITBS. The ColdCure® Wrap exceeds all government and health agency regulatory requirements for cold therapy, specifically for use in treating soft tissue injuries.
ColdCure® RigiGel® packs are much safer and more effective than ice and products that use mushy blue gel. Why? Because RigiGel® packs are like ice, but they stay at 0°C. While they may start at about -20°C straight from the freezer, after a few minutes they will go to 0°C and stay at 0°C for a long time. This is the ideal temperature for cold therapy, because it's cold enough to relieve your pain and swelling, but safe enough to not cause cold burns. Ice and blue gel packs will also start out at -20°C and rapidly go to 0°C, but then their temperature will keep rising quickly, instead of staying in the safe, effective zone of 0°C. The XC Gel® danger zone is very small, but the benefits are huge.
While XC Gel® packs are designed to be stored in the freezer, you can store them in the fridge if you find them too cold from the freezer. Not all freezers are the same. If you find that the gel is too stiff from the freezer, leave it out for 1-2 minutes before inserting it inside the wrap. When the pack is soft enough to bend, it's ready to use for treatment.
Most people think that RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression & Elevation - is the formula to follow when treating a soft tissue injury. The truth is that temperatures below freezing can be too cold to effectively relieve pain and swelling. And these temperatures can also be dangerous. Ice can actually freeze your skin and numb your nerves, causing 'cold burns' and even permanent damage to your underlying tissue. The proper solution is RCCE® - Rest, Cold, Compression & Elevation. We don't want to apply ice - we want to apply cold that is just above freezing. Yes, you want cold - and lots of it - but not so cold that it is below the freezing point of water.
ColdCure® gel packs contain 10x more gel per lb than other packs, for maximum coverage of your IT Band. When stored in the freezer, our XC® gel packs have 3x more cooling power per lb than standard gel packs. This means they stay cold longer so you won't have to swap the gels as often. It also means faster relief of your pain and swelling. Bigger packs with more gel inside, plus superior cooling power equals an overall better, more effective treatment.
ColdCure® gel packs are specially designed for the shape of the body part you're targeting. Whether your IT Band injury is located closer to your knee, thigh or hip, the gel pack will conform to your body to ensure that your entire injury receives an even distribution of cooling power. We don't just use one generic gel pack for all of our wraps. Each body part is shaped differently, which is why all of our gel packs are shaped differently too. These devices are 100% designed to treat Iliotibial Band Syndrome.
Unique XC RigiGel® Formula
Gel packs are notorious for having hot and cold spots. Our XC RigiGel® formula helps to distribute the cold energy evenly throughout the gel pack. When cold pressure is applied to an IT Band injury, the gel starts to warm up in that specific spot faster than the rest of the pack. The cold energy in our gel packs is transferred from the cold spots to the warm spots much more effectively. This is a valuable improvement as your hot, swollen injury will receive the cooling power of the entire gel pack. The temperature-balancing power of this gel formula is unmatched.
XC Gel® packs have 2 different colored sides: a white side and a gold side. Both sides will give you all the same benefits that our high performance XC RigiGel® has to offer. XC Gel® packs can be inserted inside the wrap with the white side facing towards your IT Band or away from your IT Band since they're not side specific.
